Louvre Abu Dhabi is a new cultural beacon, bringing different cultures together to shine fresh light on the shared stories of humanity.
A pioneering cultural project
The origins of Louvre Abu Dhabi date back to March 2007. The UAE and France formed an unprecedented partnership for cultural exchange, and the highlight of this would be the establishment of Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island.
The partnership is combining the UAE’s bold vision of cultural progression and openness, with France’s expertise in the world of art and museums. It explores the shared themes that reveal and connect humanity.
This museum of modern and contemporary art will be a dynamic platform for presenting local, regional and International art.
A museum of modern and contemporary art, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will showcase the most important International artistic achievements of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi collection features the work of artists from across the Globe in a variety of mediums produced since the turn of the 1960s;
with a special emphasis on West Asian, North African and South Asian art, it responds to the Interconnected nature of today’s art World, where cross-cultural sources of inspiration and transcultural exchange have become the norm.
When we will talk about all civilisations from the beginning of history to the globalised situation we live in today,
this will be the first time that visitors to Abu Dhabi will be given the opportunity to experience a universal narrative from the very beginnings of the beauty in pre-history that always had artworks and civilisations in co-visibility and coexistence.
Not only has this had an influence on the works that have been acquired for the Abu Dhabi museum’s permanent collection, for which hundreds of thousands of objects have been acquired, but it will be seen most visibly in the way Abu Dhabi’s collections are exhibited and interpreted.
Abu Dhabi's aim is to create a universal perspective on things, not from a western or an eastern perspective, but from Abu Dhabi’s position as a crossroads, Abu Dhabi and its collections of art have a unique vision of the world and alongside Abu Dhabi’s Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), is working on building incredible culturally iconic museums for the world.
Saadiyat Island- "Island of Happiness" is a natural island and a tourism - cultural project for nature and Emirati cultural heritage that is located in the capital city Abu Dhabi, part of the United Arab Emirates.
The project is located in a large island, 500 metres (1,600 ft) off the coast of Abu Dhabi island. A mix of commercial, residential, and leisure projects are currently under construction on the island.
When completed, Saadiyat Island is expected to become Abu Dhabi's cultural centre, mostly for the Island’s Cultural District that is expected to include eight museums, as well as the proposed King David Palace - Abu Dhabi.
The island is five-minute drive away from downtown Abu Dhabi, 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport and one hour drive from Dubai.
King David- Abu Dhabi will build water garden mazes unlike any made before as part of the botanical gardens. In History when the first maze gardens of the Middle East, those of the Egyptian labyrinth in the 5th century BC, the Greek historian, Herodotus allegedly proclaimed, “The pyramids surpass description, but the garden maze labyrinth surpasses the pyramids.”
Over the centuries, garden mazes have wound their way into popular culture. They function as a means of achieving spiritual peace, as works of art, and, most commonly in modern times, as interactive garden attractions. For those in need of a puzzling way to spend an afternoon abroad; King David Palace - Abu Dhabi will take these gardens to new interesting twists.
The establishment of King David Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi is fated, almost a prophetic ushering in of a time of Peace. Peace is elusive like avoiding a sandstorm that keeps changing directions. We the people of the Middle East have changed direction but the sandstorm follows us. We turn again, but the storm adjusts.
Over and over we play this out, like some ominous dance with a spirit of destruction and suddenly the dawn of Peace breaks, Why? Because this storm isn't something that has nothing to do with us, this storm is in us. Something deep inside of us all. For Peace to last the change will come from within our people, all sides.
The King David Palace – Abu Dhabi aims to be a landmark project of epic architectural proportions, to usher in the hope of everlasting Middle East Peace. This may have been for us all, the long walk to Peace but it will start with steps like King David Palace - Abu Dhabi, a project that is illuminating the path forward, into a new wonderous long awaited era of true tranquility.
One cannot stand and observe war, it would be to painful. One runs to avoid it's violence. The sand storm equally is not something one can stand and watch, it's violence would never allow it. By capturing this magnificent force of nature, we allow for an unusual experience for our vistors. They are seeing something wondrous and equally impossible to witness and it will stand as the King David Palace - Abu Dhabi's iconic symbol of the struggle for Middle East Peace and the capturing of that storm of war in our "Abraham Accord" Peace agreement with Israel. We are proposing that the world renowned artist Anish Kapoor be commissioned, for this breathtaking artistic display for Middle East Peace.
King David Palace, will have the theme of an ancient Kingdom, bringing that ancient beauty to life in all its intricate splendor. Allowing our vistors to truly feel like Kings while they stay with us. Nothing will be spared to create a truly spectacular regal experience that is synonymous with Abu Dhabi.
Repositories of rare plants, a literal oasis of calm and of extraordinary beauty, King David Palace - Abu Dhabi, will be a stunningly beautiful botanical garden and a living homage to King David himself. The breathing heart of the King David Hotel project and the city of Abu Dhabi.
The world's most beautiful botanical gardens will wrap around the entire experience of the King David Palace - Abu Dhabi. A bird watcher's paradise, the gardens will be home to the world's most fantastical collection of exotic birds. All created with the vision of Abu Dhabi, as the garden city of the Arabian Gulf.
We will have every bird, flower and fauna known to man. This experience alone will be worth the journey, some areas will be indoor others will be outside, housing the most rare of all collections. Bird and flower enthusiasts are fanatical in their pursuit of experiencing nature so we intend to impress vistors.
King David Palace - will be built on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, where the plans for a mosque, church and synagogue on one site will promote 'Human Fraternity' in building project inspired by The Pope's visit to U.A.E and the now signed "Abraham Accord", becoming another beacon of mutual understanding and Peace.
The project will hold an architectural contest throughout the Middle East. We will also approach several famous architects to propose a designs for certain sections. The vision is to recreate King David's Palace with the most elegant and artistically magnificent version being our ultimate vision.
King David Palace - Abu Dhabi will not only be collecting ancient Jewish, Christian & Islamic artifacts but encouraging modern Middle Eastern artists from all over the region to depict the ancient religions; all the stories of Abraham and all the Prophets.
King David Palace - Abu Dhabi, will be a Jewish cultural iconic structure with in the Arab world. The architectural masterpiece will be in its entirety a Museum structure. A work of art in of itself. Bringing it's vistors to the ancient times, of the Holy Lands; while enlightening the world as to the history of the great King David a prophet in all the Abrahamic faiths.
Art and beauty is what King David Palace - Abu Dhabi seeks to be synonymous with. We also see this as a wonderful opportunity to bring the great Middle Eastern and other Musical geniuses to the Middle East; to encourage artists to create musical compositions that will create a new standard of excellence. Plays, performers and all sorts of artists will flock, as never before into the Middle East to perform at the King David Palace - Abu Dhabi.
King David Palace - Abu Dhabi construction process, intends to revive many Middle Eastern regional handcrafts that are now being lost. We want our project to truly be a celebration of Middle Eastern artists and a way to save, what is often now dying artistic techniques that have lasted millenia, till now.
King David Palace - Abu Dhabi, will strive to offer guests amenities of the highest caliber. Cuisine must be a focal point of our striving for greatness.
